Beth Cutrer, M.ED, serves as a Coach for the Targeted Reading Intervention and has a special interest in the education of children in rural communities, as she was born in raised in a small rural town in the southeast and has witnessed first hand the literacy needs and strengths of children attending schools in these areas. She has worked as a special education teacher, regular education teacher, literacy specialist and literacy coach. She has also taught abroad in poor areas of Asia for 3 years. In addition she has served as a Student Support Team Chair, conducted numorous literacy workshops, collaborated and advocated for parents of English Language Learners as well as worked with pre-service teachers at UNC-Chapel Hill, teaching several of the literacy courses in the teacher education program. Her research interests include Tier 2 literacy interventions particularly related to students who are English Language Learners.
